No School Information

The season for difficult weather is here.  As you know the last few years have resulted in several snow days.  The calendar includes five snow days as required by the DESE.

We work closely with the Department of Public Services to determine the road conditions during each storm.  We also consult with area Superintendents prior to making any decision.  Whenever possible the decision on snow days is made by 5:30 AM.  If school is cancelled or delayed a ConnectEd message is sent out.  Please make sure we have up-to-date phone numbers and e-mail addresses.  Additionally, the announcement is on the local Boston TV Stations, as a backup, in case there is a problem with ConnectEd.  Always remember that ultimately it is your decision as a parent if you determine your child or children should remain home based on the weather conditions. 


Security in our schools. 

The District Emergency Management Team meets monthly to review security measures as well as training schedules for students and staff.  This group also makes recommendations regarding facilities, plans, communication and what to include in the training.  All staff went through a refresher ALICE professional development on Tuesday, 9/4/2018.  Drills at each school have begun.

We are fortunate this year to have an additional full time School Resource Officer.  That position was added at the end of last school year and continues this year.  Ed Hathon and Tim Mezza are our two SRO's.


Digital Etiquette

The year is full of events and performances at the schools.  It is a time to enjoy the accomplishments of our students. Remember in this digital age there is Digital Etiquette to follow:

Digital etiquette maintains that someone who takes a picture/video should always ask the people in that picture/video for permission before posting it on the internet.   Parents often post pictures/videos from sporting events, recitals, birthday parties, and school functions online.  If those pictures/videos include other children, the parent needs to obtain permission from the parents of ALL students involved.  

We need families, teachers, and community members to be aware of this policy when they are at school events such as grade level programs, field day, field trips, and even when visiting our classrooms and cafeteria.  We have parents who prefer that their child's picture/video not be posted online.  If you take pictures please do not share them online without consent from the parents of students pictured.

This is not just a school issue.  It is a community issue, as we want all children to be both safe and respected.
